Holiday for the Birds

Holiday for the Birds is held for children between the ages of 3 and 7. The children always enjoy themselves thoroughly and their parents laugh along as well.

The Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy hosted another successful Holiday for the Birds program on Saturday, December 2, 2006. A cozy group of children and their parents gathered at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library on Saturday, December 2nd, to celebrate Holiday for the Birds. This annual program sponsored by the Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy encourages awareness of nature by making ‘treats’ for the birds during this holiday season of giving. Verna McGinley, our local naturalist, shared nature stories with the children using animal puppets and real ‘critters’ such as a cockatoo, tiger salamander, box turtles, and giant millipedes. The children concluded the program by making suet and seed covered bagels to take home and hang outside for the birds.
