Two upcoming programs will highlight the trees in our community.

On Thursday, Oct. 10th Joe Stavish of Tree Pittsburgh will lead a tree identification hike in Bird Park. The hike is from 5:15-6:30, meeting at the main entrance to Bird Park on Bird Park Drive, off of Cedar Boulevard. This event is sponsored by the Mt. Lebanon Public Library, the Mt. Lebanon Arboretum, and the Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy. This program is free and no registration is required. Joe Stavish is the Community Education Coordinator at Tree Pittsburgh and is a passionate and interesting educator.

On Sat. Nov. 2, Cynthia Morton of Chatham University will be discussing the importance of tree genetics in our community. This talk will be held at the Mt. Lebanon Municipal Library from 2:00-3:30 PM and this will be part of the Conservancy’s Annual Meeting.
